Merry Christmas

Well we indeed had a white Christmas. The days leading up to the holiday, we experienced a “blizzard” that was more arctic cold, strong winds and lots of ice, rather than large amounts of snow. It was absolutely brutal and one of the coldest Christmas days we’ve seen in Ohio in a long time!

Christmas morning finally began at 10am when Karalyn arrived. She was so excited to come over. She had been texting us all morning and had john meet her downstairs because she couldn’t wait to see him. She made us open our gifts before she even opened her gift from Santa 😮! She was so happy to gift me (and herself) mama bear and lil bear slippers. She has always called me mama bear and was so excited to find these. For her dad, she made the most incredible memory box. She worked hard on it for weeks and was so thrilled to actually give it to him. These were by far the best gifts we opened on Christmas!

When she finally got to her gifts, she was beyond excited to see that Santa had brought her a television for her room!

We enjoyed the morning with just the 3 of us exchanging gifts!

In the early afternoon, my in-laws came over to exchange gifts and also enjoy a delicious Christmas dinner with us. It was nice to have them over our house to share the special day.

John was gifted a larger watch box (his collection has grown) and inside was his grandfathers watch ❤️

The class of 1971

In October i had the pleasure of being the photographer at the Vermilion HS 50 + 1 class reunion. This wasn’t just any reunion, this was my mom’s high school reunion. I highly recommend attending your parent high school reunion. It was so fun. She is from a small town and i already know so any of her friends, but it was just so enjoyable to watch everyone reconnect and share stories. They had the evening catered at the yacht club. They did a raffle, where everyone brought an item from where they currently live. Everyone’s name was drawn and they were able to choose something to take home!

My mom and her best friend, Annalee, who put the entire reunion together!
Mom and Dad 💗
My dad and husband who were the behind the scenes right hand men!

South Haven, MI

By far my favorite western Michigan city! It has a beautiful boardwalk with shops, an Inn, restaurants, a my favorite coffee shop. We ate at Southaven brew pub. They had a menu labeled with gluten free options, which always makes my life a little easier!

After lunch and exploring the boardwalk, we headed towards the water. The marina is absolutely gorgeous. The park area was filled with people enjoying sunshine and many were having picnics. The entire vibe was so relaxing! At the end of the river they had a splash pad for kids and a shop with tourist shirts and accessories.

We walked up and down the streets and explored every shop. They had several antique stores and we really enjoyed walking through those. It brought up so many fun memories of our childhoods. This city had so much to offer!

That evening we watched the sunset at the lighthouse. Wow i honestly don’t know if i have ever seen a sunset so gorgeous. The beach and pier were packed with families, friends and photographers. I sure am glad i get to explore life with my wonderful husband!

Saugatuck, MI

What a cute small town on Lake Michigan! Very artsy area! We walked along the lake and stopped at an outdoor art exhibit and around the farmers market. We also walked their downtown area and went in all the adorable shops!

I found Mary Poppins

My husband found an area to hike. He heard the views at the top were amazing BUT you had to climb 200 steep stairs to get there. I thought he was nuts but of course I’m always down for an adventure. The stairs were intense but after a few quick breaks, we made it!!! The views were stunning and I’m so glad we did the hike up!

Summer Through My Lens!

This is week 1 of my summer series. Each week i will share photos that i took on my Nikon camera. The goal is to take a photo a day! I stole this idea from my blogging buddy Nicole! Check out her series, Project 365, http://themommystrike.wordpress.com 😊

I thought what a great way to encourage myself to use my camera more often and to also always have my camera on me to capture more moments! We all know i love to take photos, but sadly a lot are taken on my iPhone!

Picture Day!

Well we had a rough start but ended strong. Four twirlers showed up without their warm up pants. Three twirlers showed up exactly when pictures should have started and needed help getting a bun in their hair. So after a 25 minute delay, we finally got it together and began taking photos. Lucky for them, i am also the photographer!
